HERS combustion safety training class

All HERS Raters and RFIs are REQUIRED per the RESNET Standards to successfully complete the Combustion Safety (CAZ) and Work scope training class, including the 2 online exams; the HERS CAZ and Work Scope "written" exam and the HERS CAZ simulation (ResCaz) exam by December 31, 2014 to remain certified.

Exam Only Option - For BPI BAs

If you have a current BPI Building Analyst (BA) Certification, you will only be required to take both Exams. There is No training class or materials for this option. Click here for the exam only option Information and Registration.

The course is 3 days and will focus on the Combustion Safety and Work Scope requirements of Chapter 8 of the RESNET Standards. Combustion appliance and house scenarios will also be reviewed utilizing the ResCaz simulation tool. Both exams will be given on the third day of the course after a review and question/answer session in the morning.

• Class starts at 8:30am each day
• Class will end at 5pm (this may vary based on class needs)
• Both Exams given on last day
  • Online written 25-question exam, 2 hour time limit, passing score is 80
  • Online simulation exam, 2 hour time limit, passing score is 85
• Passing the Class and both exams qualifies for 14 Professional Development Credits. This only applies to this class and not the exam only option or as part of the Rater/RFI training class.

• MABTEC's Combustion Safety and Work Scope Course Manual, on DVD (will receive on first day of class)
• Exam fees for both required exams
• Access to the ResCaz Combustion Safety simulation for 1 year
• Exam certificates issued upon successfully passing the exams
• Refreshments

Items required for Class:

• Laptop Computer
  • Windows XP or later; Mac OS X 10.5 or later.
  • Web browser, Internet Explorer (version 9 or later, 32-bit) or Firefox current version.
  • Wireless capability (WPA encryption Only supported) or Ethernet port.
  • DVD Drive or USB Port.
  • Please note, the online ResCaz simulation software will require a plug-in to be installed. You will need to have the ability to install software (including user permissions). You can download the plug here: http://unity3d.com/webplayer.
  • If you do not have a laptop computer, MABTEC as a limited number laptops that a student can use during the class and exams for a fee of $75. Please contact us if you need to use one of our laptops.

Maximum number of students for the training class is 12 (at our site).
